Roach Trap – Get Those Pests Out

Oddly enough, to catch a roach there needs to be a fairly good amount of darkness. If the light strikes this pest it runs away as quickly as possible. Also, if you find one you will normally find two or even sixty. Therefore, a good option for catching as many as possible at one time is using a roach trap. With a trap, there is no need for gels or other insecticides. All you need to do is determine the general location of groups of roaches and set the traps and wait. While waiting, it is a good idea to go ahead make sure your home is sealed, so no other pests can enter in.

When deciding what kind of roach trap to use, there are a few options. Many are low in cost and actually made from items within your home. The first two homemade ideas are made out of a glass jar. In one popular idea, you slather petroleum jelly all on the inside of the jar with a morsel of food, preferably sugary, on the bottom of the jar. Then when the roaches crawl in to devour the food they get hung up in the sticky mess on the sides and are caught red-handed. The other highly used idea with a jar is putting water and musty beer or flat soda mixed together in the jar and putting a stick in it so the roaches can crawl in. As soon as they take a dive into the mixture they will realize that they are unable to swim and drown. Overall, these two ideas are inexpensive and good to trap those roaches.

The other homemade roach trap is made by taking a piece of adhesive tape and putting a piece of food on the end of it. Place it in a location that your new house guests like to hide and then when you wake up you will more than likely see one or many roaches stuck to the tape. If you have tried those easy to make options and the pesky guys are still lurking around your house in the dark causing destruction and leaving stinky, germy messes, it is time to pull out the big guns. Even though you have tried to be kind and allow the roaches to die in a sanitary and humane way, sometimes you just need to use the poison. There are products that use the trap idea where the roach crawls in for something sweet to drink or eat and then are suddenly poisoned.

With any option you use, just remember to clean up the carnage when you are done, especially if you have children or animals around. Roach traps, whether homemade or store bought, are always a good choice when trying to get those pests out of your house.
